Today I played a game of chess where I had a commanding lead. I played the Vienna game, and after some shuffling, got to a position where I was chasing the opponent’s king around. A mate seemed assured. However, this was a game where I figuratively snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with a spectacular blunder, and a brilliant move by my opponent!
In the heady enjoyment of an approaching win, it’s important to always keep tabs on the potential opponent mate threats. It only took only one move where I didn’t have my eye on the opponent’s pawn on a3 to result in a loss, and a stunning win for my opponent.
I hope you enjoyed this video, and thanks for watching!
