A LOVELY Checkmate in 11! chess noob Quick Wins! #8

chess noob Quick Wins! is a new series of short videos, to demonstrate very quick wins! As a beginner, you become aware of the Scholar’s Mate and the Fool’s Mate, but neither of these show up in real games. However, there are tricky quick checkmates and wins that occur, even at the intermediate level of chess.

This game was sent in by one of my subscribers (@TFossS) – a very nice 11 move checkmate that capitalised on their opponent’s blindness to a checkmate threat.

On move 9, Black castled king-side – a strategically dubious move given that White had a semi-open h-file and had both a rook and queen looking at the pawn on h7. Although Stockfish called in only an inaccuracy [+1.18], this was only if Black recognised the risk and used their next two moves to counterattack.

Black, however, missed the risk and thus, lost by checkmate on move 11. GG!
