Quick Wins #15 | Punish Silly Opening! CHECKMATE in 7 moves

chess noob Quick Wins! is a new series of short videos, to demonstrate very quick wins! As a beginner, you become aware of the Scholar’s Mate and the Fool’s Mate, but neither of these show up in real games. However, there are tricky quick checkmates and wins that occur, even at the intermediate level of chess.

This was game by a subscriber (@shlomo55555) who played with the white pieces, against an opponent who used the dubious Brooklyn Variation of Alekhine’s Defense (1. e4 Nf6 2. e5 Ng8). Black compounded their disadvantage by attempting to fight for the centre with their f-pawn (3… f6) which critically weakened the light squares around their king. This was indeed fatal with a forced mate in 3 after (4… fxe5) and checkmate on move 7!
