Vienna Gambit Accepted | Double Brilliant Attack!!

This was my second game where I had two brilliant moves and just like the first one (https://adventuresofachessnoob.com/2022/10/03/double-brilliant-vienna-gambit/) it was in the wonderful Vienna Gambit!

My opponent accepted the Vienna Gambit (1. e5 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. f4 exf4) which instantly put a smile on my face! Curiously, they attempted to first pin my queen’s knight, and then the king’s knight, and in both cases, traded away their bishop for my knight.

Now, this isn’t a good idea against the Vienna Gambit Accepted as the aggregate effect on by move 10 is that all of Black’s remaining pieces were on their starting square other than a pawn on d6, while I had a commanding pawn barricade controlling the centre of the board, with my bishop pair and queen developed, and reading to castle in either direction! At this point, Stockfish gave a completely winning evaluation of [+5.6] to White!

On move 13, Black was pretty much forced to castle kingside to avoid a mating level threat down the f-file. However, with my bishop pair, queen, and rook poised to attack on the kingside, there would be no respite for the black king! The first brilliant move – bishop sacrifice with check (14. Bxh7+)!! A hole is punched into Black’s defences on the h-file, and I win tempo to creep my queen forward and activate my rook with a rook lift (14… Kxh7 15. Qh5+ Kg8 16. Rf3).

Black lashes out with their g-pawn (16. g6) and this is a blunder. There is a rather beautiful [+M4] with a queen sacrifice (17. Qh7+!! Kxh7 18. Rh3+ Kg8 19. Bf6 Nc8 20. Rh8#) but I didn’t see it in the game.

Nonetheless, mate is coming nonetheless, and I creep my queen forward once again (17. Qh6). Black plays the only good move in the position (17… Nf5), attacking my queen and seemingly forcing a queen trade which would nerf my attack. However, I then had the second brilliant move – rook sacrifice (18. Rxf5)!! Black moves their queen out of the attack from my bishop, which allows my bishop to slide onto the f6 square. With mate coming the next turn (unless Black gives a spite check), Black resigned. GG!
